Top 5 Books on my Summer-Reading List!

I finished school for the Summer Holidays today, and am completely overwhelmed by the fact that it was my last day in Year Nine. I can admit I didn't want to walk out of the school gates and say goodbye to everyone. I also feel that my whole school life is flying by but, I couldn't have asked for a better year. There was my trip to London and run-in with Stephen Fry along with my English teacher. But, since it is summer, I'm going to use this time to attack my ever-growing TBR Pile. I've recently finished 'Monument-14' by Emmy Laybourne which I loved and have a variety of books I'm hoping to read(including some of the ARC's I showed you in my last post).

Quality summer-reading

My plan is to read some of my own books, library books that I have had past their due-date and also the ARC's I am most excited for. Depending on how quick I finish my first bunch of books, I will then read the rest of my review copies to be prepared for September.

The first book I am going to read this summer is 'The Bone Season' by Samantha Shannon. The reason for this is that the publication day is fast approaching and I this has been on my shelf since around May. Also, it is a quite a big-book so I'm going to get through it first so it's out of my mind. On the back, there are comparisons to both Twilight and The Hunger Games so, I have really high-hopes for this one.

Another of the fast-approaching release dates is 'Crown of Midnight' by Sarah J. Maas. I am beyond excited to finally pick this up and get back into the world of Erilea and Celaena's list as the King's Champion.

'Monsters of Men' by Patrick Ness is the final book in the Chaos Walking Trilogy and one I have been wanting to read for a few weeks now. The second book, 'The Ask and The Answer' ended on a cliffhanger and I just love the setting and characters in these novels. I'm really looking forward to seeing how this is all wrapped-up and how Viola and Todd's relationship will grow.

Next book on the list is 'The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones' by Cassandra Clare as, the movie looks fantastic and I've heard nothing but praise for this series. I also want to be able to picture this world for myself before I go and see it in the cinema - and introduce myself to the world of Shadowhunters.

As I mentioned in my previous post, me and some of my fellow-bloggers are taking part in a read-a-long of 'Shipwrecked' by Siobhan Curham. I think this will be a light-hearted, fun yet exciting summer read as the other books on my list could be seen as quite heavy at times.

'The Soterion Mission' by Stewart Ross is an extra to this list(May as well make it six!) as I've already read the first few pages as a sneak-peak and I love the premise. I'm very excited to read this one as a part of Team-Fox.

What are you planning to read this summer? Are you attacking your TBR pile too?
How about reading your own guilty-pleasures again?

    1. Thank you! So far, I'm finding it hard to get into because of the world-building but it's amazing how complex it is! I LOVE Chaos Walking too. The characters are so wide-spread and different, I can't help but want to know more.

I've been told City of Bones is amazing, and of course, with the movie coming out I feel like the only one who hasn't yet read it.

  7. Ooh great choices Sophie! City of Bones is one of my favourite series (as well as TID) and she's one of my favourite authors. I'm currently reading book 2 in the Mortal Instruments and I can tell you, you won't be disappointed with the series. I recently got Thrown of glass for review and I've heard book 2 is even better. I need to read The Knife of Never Letting Go, I just have so many books to get through. Hope you get through all of them, let me know what you think of "City of Bones". Happy Reading :)
