With the sweltering heat, I've resorted to writing late at night rather than mid-afternoon, spending the time reading Half Bad by Sally Green instead. School came to an end for the summer holidays last week, and being three books behind schedule for this years Goodreads Reading Challenge, I'm planning to tackle my ever-growing TBR over the next month. Escaping revision, I'm also hoping to read Game of Thrones, knowing I've got a few weeks to trek through those eight-hundred pages.

Over the past few months, I've been waiting to read A Song of Ice and Fire(the first in the Game of Thrones series), having read/heard continuous praise in school and online. I'm currently preparing myself for the fictional deaths that the author seems to be famous for; especially after reading this article! As a person who loves world-building, my expectations are extremely high for this novel, as just from the map on the inside front cover it appears to be incredibly detailed. I'm so excited to finally be a part of this phenomenon!
Both of these books have been on my shelf since the beginning of the year, and since it's been a few months since I last read a historical fiction novel, I've decided that it's time I finally pick these up. Set during WW11, it's a period of history that I'm really interested in, and the plot sounds brilliant.
At the moment, I'm reading the first book on my list, Half Bad, which I mentioned above. I'm a huge fan of Fantasy novels, and it's been a while since I've read Beautiful Creatures,. It had a gothic-writing style that I adored reading, along with a fantastic set of characters(such as Ridley) so, I bought the next two books in the series, only for them to remain unread more than a year later. I should probably issue a book-buying ban to finally continue The Caster Chronicles!
As much as I want to continue reading about the Casters, I've got a review copy of Heir of Fire - the next Throne of Glass novel - on my Kindle, which I'm going to be reviewing closer to publication date. It's a known fact that I've fallen in love with S J. Maas' writing over the past few years, and can't wait to continue reading about Celaena Sardothien, with the third book being my most highly anticipated release of 2014!

Also on my reading list are Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins and The Memory Keepers by Natasha Ngan. Stephanie Perkins's novel is one I have been anticipating for one reason: finally being able to meet Etienne St. Clair! If there is one fictional character that I have heard mentioned more than Gus Waters this year online, it's the love-interest from her novel. Since Natasha Ngan first hinted at the synopsis of The Memory Keepers, I've been waiting to get my hands on a copy, as I really enjoyed her debut The Elites last summer.
I'm hoping to get through at least seven or eight of these:
Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin
Code Name Verity & Rose Under Fire by Elizabeth Wein
Beautiful Creatures, Beautiful Darkness and Beautiful Chaos by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl/
Throne of Glass, Crown of Midnight and Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas
Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
The Memory Keepers by Natasha Ngan
