Monthly Wrap-Up March

March was the month to choose my Options(Subjects to take forward for GCSE).  I found it difficult to choose between certain subjects and drop others and then there's the constant worry throughout of picking the wrong subjects. In the end, I choose History, Media Studies and French. I was lucky enough to have the subjects where I wanted them to be so, I was able to choose what I would like to take. It was very stressful but I felt it was nice to get some control on what I learn. The good side: I get to do English Literature!

Earlier in the month, I think I achieved something that I never thought I would. I feel we all blog to get our opinions heard and to make friends because it's more difficult in the 'real-world'. I've never been too confident and standing up in front of people and talking is horrible. It's not too bad when they are people I have just met but when facing my peers it's harder. They already know you and are expecting this to go a certain way. For once, I kept calm and rehearsed my speech over-and-over, got up in front of my English Class, and spoke it. Clearly. I was so proud and still am, I still can't work out exactly how I did it.

I also met Bryce Thomas when I walked into WHSmith to pick some new books. I spent ages talking to him about his writing(He is the author of Ramin) and bought his books to get them signed.

Film wise, I saw The Host, which I was really excited to see. I'm yet to read the book, but the film was amazing! I loved how Melanie and Wander both had different personalities and were different. Along with it having laugh-out-loud moments.

After last month's reading slump, I've picked up this pace and have read:

Throne of Glass - Sarah J. Maas
Hidden - Marianne Curley
Dear Scarlett - Fleur Hitchcock
Breathe - Sarah Crossan

I also started To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee(I did type Mockingjay by accident) and the Throne of Glass Novellas.

Book of the Month-I can't choose! I adored Throne of Glass, Hidden & Breathe. They were fantastic, and all have sequels being released over the next year.

I even had a chance to buy some more books, as well as winning a competition, the prize being a signed copy of 'Finding Cherokee Brown'.(As shown above)

How was your month?

  2. I chose my Options last month too! We have chosen a similar bunch! I also chose History, French and Media. But I also had to choose 2 more, which were PE and Psychology. I really hope you enjoy your chosen subjects!

You are so lucky to have seen The Host. I'm waiting for my friend to finish the book so I can borrow it. I've heard nothing but great things for the movie, and I'm so glad you loved it!

I haven't yet read Breathe, but I've read some amazing reviews for it so really need to try it. I LOVED Throne of Glass! Celaena is so strong and determined. She's got to be one of my favourite female protags in a very long time.

Thanks for sharing this awesome post with us, Sophie! :D

    1. It's so strange how we have chosen the same but in a good-way! The Host was amazing. I'm yet to read the book but I will as soon as I can. I laughed and had tears in my eyes-I'm going to post a review some time in the next few days.

Breathe-you must read it! It's the first dystopia I have read that is set in the UK and I loved it. Very excited for the sequel! Celaena is definitely one of my favourites too! It was the way I thought she was going to be an annoying protagonist, but turned into somebody I constantly wanted to read about. There are too many sequels to look forward too.

      Thank you!! :D

  3. I chose exactly the same options as you! I love media the subject, but not the class. The people in my class don't care about media :( I love English Literature too!

I went to see The Host yesterday and it was quite good. I haven't read the book but now I really want to. I did find some parts really cheesy though.. the love parts made me cringe :3

Throne of Glass is AMAZING! I really want to read Breathe and Dear Scarlet looks interesting. And of course you know what I think of Hidden... *fangirls* ;)

I hope April is just as good of a month for you! Thanks for posting :)

    1. That's awesome! I'm so excited to start Media Studies. Getting to go out and film things is something I really want to do. I haven't done much English Literature wise, but anything to do with books and I'm happy!

I really enjoyed The Host! I will admit, I was teeny-bit cheesy. I found it more on the laugh-out-loud side like when she slapped him!

LOVED Throne of Glass & Breathe! Dear Scarlett was interesting. I really enjoyed it despite being for younger readers. Have you read The Selection? I don't think I've ever read a book so fast.

HIDDEN! *controls breathing* You know how much I loved it!

      Thanks for commenting!

  4. Throne of Glass is amazing, isn't?! TEAM CHAOL, FTW! Sorry, Sophie...I had to say it!

That signed book is so cool! Finding Cherokee Brown is on my TBR pile so I'll have to read it soon.

Wishing you the best for April! :)

    1. Yes! I loved Celaena- she is one of my favourite female characters! It's the way she changed, and I couldn't get enough of reading from her POV. TEAM DORIAN! Dorian was there from the beginning while Chaol was just mean. Although, in the end he saved her life so I don't mind him.

Have you read Dear Dylan? It's great!
